Armenia: project activities and upcoming achievements

“Strengthening Educational Assessment Capacity to Support Better Learning Outcomes”

Focal Areas
• Enhancing stakeholder capacity to use assessment data to improve teaching and learning
• High-stakes examination reform
• Training and professional development of teachers in use of classroom assessment practices

October – December 2018 Achievements
• Introduced a new undergraduate course on Formative/Classroom Assessment at Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences
• Four pre-service teachers (undergraduate students) at Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences carried out project work based on the training delivered to university professors in classroom assessment in summer 2018. The work included: (i) classroom observations of the use of assessment methods by teachers at a local school; and (ii) use of formative assessment tools
• Finalized preparations of Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences for the pilot of the newly developed Master’s program in the Educational Measurement and Testing stream and the Education Research stream

Upcoming Achievements
• Provide resources, including professional literature and software, for the Master’s Program in Educational Assessment
• Provide support to Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Science in carrying out a media campaign to promote the Master’s program in Educational Assessment
• Develop a short promotional movie to attract applicants to the new Master’s program in Educational Assessment
